María Regato Herbella joined to CIC BiomaGUNE, Soft Matter Nanotechnology, in collaboration with POLYMAT, Innovative Polymers (2019), after finishing her bachelor degree in Chemistry by the University of Oviedo and International Master in New Materials between University of Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and the University Cantabria (UCAN).
Focused in Polymer science, Maria is developing new responsive hydrogel systems to retain and release drugs in specific conditions for biomedical applications. In addition, she also participates every year in the INSPIRA STEAM program, showing children the wide world of science, among other activities.
When she is not in the lab or in acts of popular science, Maria enjoys climbing, rolling, hiking, painting or doing yoga. She also likes to spend her time with her family, especially her only niece.
